The weather is heating up, and summer is halfway over. I love summer as much as the next girl, and I definitely love the outfits I can cook up for this season too.

Without further ado, here are some of my essential clothing and accessory items that I have in my closet for summer.

Fourth of July Fashion!

In the Spotlight: Pops of Color

DIY Skirt to Shorts

Hey Cliquers! This is a super fun, easy idea on how to turn an old skirt into one of those pairs of shorts that still make it look like you're wearing a skirt. I have not tried this yet because I don't really have any extra skirts lying around at the moment, but I may just have to go out thrifting for one so I can give it a whirl. It's perfect for summer I think!

Iced Coffee Popsicles

Hello everyone! We are so close to summer, I can basically taste it. You can taste it too when you have your very own coffee popsicles so you don't have to swallow any more piping hot beverages in the summer while trying to satisfy your coffee cravings. The good thing about these is that they're totally customizable to fit your taste. Now I'm not a huge coffee person, but I know quite a few people who can't live without it, so I thought I'd share this recipe with you. How to Make a Camera Strap From a Scarf

Hello readers! This spring and summer, I'm sure you'll all want to find your place in the photography fad like every other teenage girl in this lovely planet called earth. I highly recommend trying your eye for capturing the best snapshots of nature, people, or whatever else makes your heart beat. When you go out for your shoots, do it in style with this camera strap from a scarf. Here's how you can make your own!

Supplies: scarf, 2 split rings, 2 chain closures, scissors, sewing machine OR needle/thread, scrap of leather, pen

Step 1: Draw your shape on the leather with a pen making sure the smallest point at the fold fits through the split ring. You'll be folding it over, so mirror one side to the other and trace it. 

Step 2: Cut the leather on the folded line.

Step 3: Repeat to create two of these leather pieces.

Step 4: Connect the chain closure to the split ring.

Step 5: Slide the ring to the middle section of the leather.
Step 6: Fold the end of the scarf in an accordion fold, small enough so that it fits into the leather.
Step 7: Stick the leather to the scarf in place.
Step 8: With your sewing machine, stitch around the edge of the leather (as indicated in the picture)
Make sure you have a special needle that works for leather. Otherwise, hand stitch it.

S'mores Croissants Recipe

Hello! I'm sure you're all craving the foods of summer by now. Can't you just taste the strawberry pies, burgers on the grill, and... S'mores over the fire? Mmmm. S'mores just scream "SUMMER NIGHT AROUND THE CAMPFIRE" but now you can enjoy them inside your house any time with this recipe.

Actually, I couldn't find the recipe, only the picture, however this is simple enough that you guys could figure it out. I tried this a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good, so give this a try!

What you will need:

• Pillsbury Croissant Rolls  
• Chocolate chips
• Little marshmallows

Instructions:

• Open the package of rolls and spread them out on a cookie sheet
• Place a few chocolate chips and marshmallows on the rolls and roll the croissants as instructed on the package 
• Bake according to the time and temperature listed on the croissant package

In the Spotlight: Dresses

Hello, lovelies!

Even though it's the middle of winter, I'm so ready for spring and summer to come, especially because in those months I can break out the skirts and dresses without having to layer on three pairs of leggings so I don't freeze.

Today's ItS post features some dresses that would be perfect for spring/summer, and a few that would probably work for colder weather too. Something I really love about dresses is that you can change the look of a dress with a few simple accessories. So if one day you want to go for an elegant look you can, but with the same dress you can also go for more of a casual look, which I love.

And also, I have a question. For future ItS posts, would you like me to feature not only fashion and hair, but make-up too? I'm no professional make-up artist, but if you'd like me to do a spotlight on make-up trends, I'd be happy to! What do you think?

And now, on to the dresses!

Lemon Ice Cream

LEMON ICE CREAM

1-2 T. freshly grated lemon zest
½ c. fresh lemon juice
1 c. sugar
3 large eggs
2 c. half & half
1 tsp. vanilla

In a saucepan, whisk together the zest, lemon juice, sugar and eggs.  Whisk in 1 c. of half & half plus the vanilla.  Cook over moderately high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture just comes to a simmer.

Strain mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and chill thoroughly (several hours to overnight).  Whisk in remaining 1 c. half & half and freeze in an ice cream freezer.

If you'd like, go ahead and stick some blueberries on top for extra yum!

Lemonade Popsicles

I'm afraid I don't have a picture for you since I don't have any lemonade handy, but here we go!

Whaddaya need:
- Lemonade
- Plastic Cup(s)
- Popsicle stick
- Plastic Wrap

Pour the lemonade into the cup and secure plastic wrap over the top. Then simply stab a popsicle stick through the middle and put it in the freezer. Give the lemonade time to freeze and voila! LEMONADE POPSICLE!*

*You could replace the lemonade with any other juice.

Summertime Fruit Salad

Howdy ya'll! Sea here, and since it's summer, I've prepared a summertime recipe. Enjoy!

What you need:

-          3 peaches, sliced

-          3 bananas, peeled and sliced

-          1 pint strawberries, washed and halved

-          1 cup blueberries, washed

-          2 tablespoons pineapple juice

What you do:

Toss all the fruit together in a big bowl with the pineapple juice.

You can adapt this salad to your own tastes by substituting any of the ingredients with fruits of your choosing.

Lemon Meringue Pie

When the heat begins to tighten there is nothing better for a evening dessert, when a fresh breeze rises, than one (or two) scoops of ice creamaccompanied by a slice of pie with a crunchy crust, a savory filling and sharply sour  lemon aftertaste, in a  meringue with a smooth , creamy and irresistible texture- at least for me. It is very easy, do you want to try it?

Ingredients:

• juice of 2 lemons
• 1 can sweetened condensed milk
• 1 packageand a half of sugary  of crackers 
• 3 tbsp (tablespoons) sugar
• 250 g butter, melted
• 6 eggs
• lemon zest

Preheated oven at 180ºC.

Chop the crackers, add the melted butter, knead with your hands, cover withthe mixture the tart pan, and poke the bottom with a fork.In a bowl, pour the condensed milk, the lemon juice, 1 egg and 5 egg yolks, stirring welluntil the mixture is smooth. Put it into the tart pan and take it to the oven for 30 minutes or until cooked and golden. Remove from the oven and let cool. Separately, beat the 5 egg whites with the remaining sugar and spread it over the cream  and take it  back to the oven to 200 º C till it has a golden look on top. Remove from oven, let cool completely and reserve in refrigerator until serving time.

Ocean Potion

This is such a simple, refreshing summer snack that's perfect for a beach party, end of school year party, or cute for an everyday snack! I LOVE this idea... please try this recipe!

Ingredients

• blue gelatin
• clear plastic glasses
• gummy sea creatures

Instructions

1. Before the party, whip up a batch of blue gelatin and pour it into clear plastic glasses. Put the gelatin in the refrigerator to set as directed on the package.
2. At the party, guests can populate their Ocean Potion with edible sea critters
