In the Spotlight: Braids

Today's ItS post is going to focus on one of my go-to hairstyles. Anything with braids is a way to make something really simple look like you spent hours accomplishing. Braids add different dimensions to a boring hairstyle, and they also add a little bit of your own flair to a style. Here are some of my favorites.

  1. Dutch braids are so easy to do and they look so cute! Feather braids are pretty cool too.

    1. I love the Dutch braid! It's what I use if I feel like looking like Katniss or just keeping the hair out of my face. What's a feather braid? I feel like I've heard of it, but I forget what exactly it is.

  2. Death braid. Second picture down on the left, middle picture. I've never actually tried it but it looks pretty.

    1. Haha, oh I see it now! I completely forgot it was there. I've tried the feather braid before, and it's actually really easy. I've also heard the feather braid called the waterfall twist braid. If you want to learn how, there's tons of tutorials on YouTube and Pinterest. (:

    3. Indeed you did! I was a bit confused, but I just figured maybe you're a criminal mastermind who created the death braid for your world take over. (: Good luck with the feather braid, though!

  3. I love braids they're just so gorgeous I can't...
Unfortunately I have super clumsy fingers and it takes me like half an hour to do a messy three-strand braid... sigh... Maybe this weekend I'll put off homework my sitting in front of my mirror and practicing braids ;)

Just wondering, do you know any braids that work well on shorter hair? My hair is actually extremely long haha but I've never seen braids for short hair, so I was just wondering.

    1. I remember the first time I tried to learn how to braid. It was a mess! Thankfully my fingers actually have some coordination unlike the rest of me, so I can do a lot of braids. I've spent plenty of time procrastinating my homework to do my hair just for fun. (:

I have seen short hair braids, actually. Well, braided hairstyles anyway. For short hair a lot of people like to braid their bangs back, or use braids to make a half-up style. Braided headband styles are also really popular, and I've seen people do a waterfall braid with short hair.

I personally don't have short hair, but I'm sure you could really alter any braided long hair style to fit short hair by changing the style slightly.
