Seana's Must-Haves (Fall)

Hello lovelies!

It's been a while, but I'm back with something new! Since fall is either already here or just around the corner for you, I'm going to do a bit of a roundup of the things that I feel are must-have items for fall.

Let's get started then, shall we?

---------------------

Fashion:

Chunky scarves are definitely one of the accessories that I can't live without during fall. They're just so cozy and warm, and they make a great fashion statement.

Oversize sweaters. Even though they're not always the most form-fitting or things like that, I feel like everyone could use a good oversize sweater to keep them warm and happy this fall. Pair it with some jeans and boots, and voila! Instant fabulous.

Speaking of boots, those are also something that I think fall calls for. They give you a sort of cowgirl-chic look that I think looks good on everyone. And they keep your ankles warm, which is a bonus!

I myself own a leather jacket, and I'm such a huge fan of it. It's perfect for fall, and it makes a statement if you pair it with a plain t-shirt and jeans.

Hair:

Braids are definitely a lovely way to wear your hair in the fall. It keeps your hair under control during windy days, and they're super versatile.

I've always been a fan of the classic messy bun, even though it's not as effortless as it may look. Either way, messy buns are a perfect accessory to your fall outfits. You can polish the messy bun up for a sophisticated touch, or make it messier for casual wear.

Makeup:

I confess, I'm turning into a bit of a makeup junkie. My collection of products has started to expand, and I'm becoming a fan of different trends too that I hadn't seen before. One of those classic trends being the cat-eye, winged eyeliner. It's such a classy look that's been around for a while, and even though it takes a while to perfect, I love it.

For fall especially, if you want to be bolder, pairing a golden colored eyeshadow look and a berry lip color is always gorgeous. I saw this recently on a YouTuber's channel (Zoella is her name if you're curious), and I thought it looked stunning. Definitely a fall look!

------------------

And lastly, just because, I'm going to add apple cider to my list of fall must-haves. Apple cider is a staple of fall, and I never go a fall season without it.

What are you rocking this fall?

That is all.

Cheers,
Seana

Seana's Closet: Summer

The weather is heating up, and summer is halfway over. I love summer as much as the next girl, and I definitely love the outfits I can cook up for this season too.

Without further ado, here are some of my essential clothing and accessory items that I have in my closet for summer.

A Maxi Skirt
Maxi from: Target

Flowy Shirts
Left shirt from: TJ Maxx
Right shirt from: JCPenny

Statement Necklaces With Pops of Color
Bow necklace from: Either Love Culture or Deb's. It was during a shopping spree I went on at the mall that I picked it up.
Statement necklace from: An outdoor market of some kind. I don't know the name of the both I got it from, sadly.

Floral Patterns
Shirt from: Target

Bright Colored Shorts and Shirts
Left shirt from: Somewhere in Florida. I wish I could remember where, but it was one of those souvenir shops that are everywhere.
Right shirt from: JCPenny or Kohl's (this shirt is one I got a while ago, so my memory's a little fuzzy on where I got it from)
Blue shorts from: JCPenny

Sandals/Wedges
Black sandals from: Payless
Pink wedges from: TJ Maxx
Colorful gold sandals from: Payless
Brown wedges from: A secondhand store

So there you have it! A little mash-up of some of the clothes I love for summer.

That is all.
Cheers,
Seana

In the Spotlight: Dresses

Hello, lovelies!

Even though it's the middle of winter, I'm so ready for spring and summer to come, especially because in those months I can break out the skirts and dresses without having to layer on three pairs of leggings so I don't freeze.

Today's ItS post features some dresses that would be perfect for spring/summer, and a few that would probably work for colder weather too. Something I really love about dresses is that you can change the look of a dress with a few simple accessories. So if one day you want to go for an elegant look you can, but with the same dress you can also go for more of a casual look, which I love.

And also, I have a question. For future ItS posts, would you like me to feature not only fashion and hair, but make-up too? I'm no professional make-up artist, but if you'd like me to do a spotlight on make-up trends, I'd be happy to! What do you think?

And now, on to the dresses!

Winter Recipe Poll Winner: Peppermint Chocolate Marshmallows

Hello!
It's July :) How were your holidays? Good I hope. I finally got around to making the winning food product from our poll, and I really did do it this time unlike the fall one... whoopsies. If you were paying any attention, you may have noticed that the Three Broomstick's Butterbeer and the Chocolate Peppermint Marshmallows had tied with a vote of 4 each, and I really didn't want to make both, so I picked one. I picked the marshmallows. If you were dying to try some butterbeer and are now in hopeless dispair, I'll send you the recipe, so don't you fret on little bit. Same goes for any of the recipes.
*Note* I actually did make the eggnog fudge for a Christmas party and it did not turn out. It was too sweet and did not taste like eggnog at all :(

Here goes nothing.

Below is what I was trying to imitate:

And now what actually came out:

Now obviously, mine don't look as showy or fancy, but just ask Sea.. I am no professional chef, so it's justified. I didn't feel like there needed to be any sticks in them because when the chocolate hardened it was easy enough to just pick them up and pop them right in!

If you want to know how to make them, I can tell you what the picture would since there was no written recipe. Thankfully, it's self-explanatory.

What you'll need:
  • 12 big marshmallows
  • 3 candy canes
  • About a 1/4 bag of chocolate chips (or 3oz).

What you'll do:
  • First melt the chocolate in bowl (I did it in the microwave, but I suppose you could also do it in a pan on the stove)
  • Crush the candy canes in a food processor (make sure you get them small enough) then place them in a bowl
  • Dip a marshmallow into the chocolate about halfway and immediately cover with candy canes
  • Place on wax paper and wait for them to harden which won't take long
  • Enjoy!

Now for my thoughts on this creation. I honestly didn't like it that much. I think it was the candy canes that did it for me and I would have enjoyed just a plain chocolate covered marshmallow better than this embellished one! It's really easy and if you like candy canes, go for it and tell me how it turns out for you!

Happy belated holidays!

Winter Is Coming (A Side Updo Tutorial)

Living in the north of the US means one thing: We get snow. And just this weekend we got some snow, and it was one of the most gorgeous things I've seen in a while. With winter already around the corner (or for some of us, it's already here), and that means it's time to break out the cozy sweaters and delicious peppermint goodies.

And some of you will definitely have some Christmas, New Years, and other holiday parties that go along with winter. Struggling to find a hairstyle to go with your outfit? I've found a tutorial that's perfect for any occasion and looks adorable.

Happy winter!

Fall Recipe Poll!

Hello! So I know I haven't posted in a while and my apologies for that! but with high school just starting and all.... you know, things can get a little hectic.
Anyway, last winter I had you all send my recipes to try and review and I made White Peppermint Mocha drink! This fall I'm going to do something similar but you are going to vote on which fall themed recipe you want me to make, review, and share the recipe for! If Seana's on board maybe we can get together and she can help me not struggle so much, haha, because we all know how I am in the kitchen! Erm, remember the rock cookies? Just kidding. ;)

So here are your options! Please, please vote on the poll I have set up on the righthand side of our blog!

Red, White, and Blue chocolate dipped strawberries

Happy Memorial Day! July here and this is a patriotic recipe for you to make!                                                              Here is what you'll need:
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries (approx 12 oz)
  • 4-oz white chocolate
  • Blue sprinkles

Here is what you'll do:
  • Line a baking sheet or cutting board with wax paper or parchment paper.
  • Chop up the chocolate roughly with a knife if it is in block form. In a medium-sized, microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave. Heat it in 45 or 60-second intervals, stirring between each time to ensure that the chocolate is melting evenly and not burning. Meanwhile, place blue sanding sugar into a small bowl and set it aside.
  • When chocolate is smooth, dip the berries 3/4 of the way into the chocolate, dip the tips into the blue sprinkles, and place on wax paper.
  • Berries can set at room temperature if you live somewhere cool, otherwise refrigerate them until ready to serve to allow the chocolate to set up. Best within day or two of making.
  • And, don't forget to set a tin aside to share with your grandparents or anybody else who has served for our country!

Mother's Best Strawberry Jell-o

This is July here with our first recipe! Exciting, huh? We will try to make or show you a picture of the finished product. Sadly, I couldn't make this one today because we didn't have three boxes of Jell-o, but I did find you a picture.
A Jell-o story:
This is my mom's recipe actually! But anyway, every summer we go strawberry picking just for this Jell-o!

This is what you'll need:
3 small boxes of strawberry Jell-o
3 1/2 cups water total
1 pint of crushed strawberries (smash from whole)
9x13 pan

Boil 3 cups of water then add all the boxes of Jell-o
stir until dissolved
add crushed berries
add another 1/2 cup water (stir) and put in a 9x13 pan and refrigerate

Enjoy! I hope you make this because I LOVE this Jell-o....
More crafts and recipes to come soon! Sorry to those of you with food allergies and restrictions and can't eat this.
Strawberry Jell-o and Welsh muffins (I'll make those another time if they even exist!),
